Angela Hartnett OBE, is one of the UK’s most loved chefs and restaurateurs, known for her sophisticated yet simple, Italy-inspired cooking. Born in Britain, her passion for good, honest food and the best ingredients was instilled in her by her Italian grandmother and mother. After starting out in the kitchens at Aubergine, Zafferano, L’Oranger and Petrus, Angela became head chef at Petrus within seven short months, helping the restaurant to achieve a Michelin star. She went on to launch Amaryllis in Scotland; Verre in Dubai; Menu and The Grill Rooms at The Connaught, with Gordon Ramsay. In 2012 Angela opened Hartnett Holder & Co in partnership with Robin Hutson and Chef Luke Holder. In September 2013 Angela launched the critically acclaimed Merchants Tavern in Shoreditch, in collaboration with Head Chef Neil Borthwick, and Canteen founders Dominic Lake and Patrick Clayton-Malone. In November of that year, she opened the similarly championed Café Murano, a brassier little sister to Murano.
Although it might sound as if the Ballater Gallery in Aberdeenshire, Scotland has been around for a long time it hasn't, and actually only started trading in June 2019. This was the dream of well-known Scottish businessman and keen art collector David Reid and it came about after years of planning and research.
David has worked throughout the country but, after giving up corporate life and returning to his roots in the North East in 2012, his knowledge of art specifically helped the charities which he has supported. David ran two hugely successful art sales for Maggies at the Chester Hotel in Aberdeen and spent hundreds of hours with more than 40 mainly Scottish artists.
The first Campbells butcher shop opened in Edinburgh in 1910 with a strong focus to provide premium quality butchered meat and this value still stands strong at the company’s heart. Since then the company has developed to supply hundreds of restaurants, colleges and universities across the UK, working closely with high profile chefs including the majority of Michelin-starred restaurants in Scotland together with the chefs of the future.
To this day, Campbells Prime Meat dry age their beef for at least 21 days, improving the flavour and texture of the meat. They proudly continue to butcher their meat in the traditional way, never on a production line. This makes a big difference to the quality and the taste remains consistently good every time.
Being a Scottish company is a great advantage to Campbells. It helps us to produce the highest quality meat, because Scottish farmers rear great animals, predominantly grass fed and based on less intensive agriculture systems than elsewhere in Europe. Our fresh fish is just that – fresh. We source all of our fish daily from Scrabster, Peterhead and Shetland. We buy fish at the quayside from boats fishing in the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, assuring our customers of the freshest, Scottish landed fish.
We endeavour to source locally as much as possible to support the Scottish economy and work closely with chefs to develop seasonal delicacies and encourage food innovation.

It is the kind of local wine merchant everyone should have: a friendly presence, terrific wines, and great personal service.” Anthony Rose - The Daily Record
